I deceided to add a little more black to my Siver 05 FZ6. I searched around eBay for black Gas caps, but there really wasn't anything around. I only found black "racing style" caps that don't lock. So I decided to paint the 'ring' of my gas cap black.
I unbolted it from the tank, cleaned it all up with some solvent, masked off the actual 'cap' (there is a roll pin that connects the cap to the base, but for the life of me I couldn't get that roll pin to budge!). I then applied one light coat of primer, 3 light coats of Satin Black (Semi-gloss) and 2 light coats of clear coat. Fun, easy and inexpensive.

I found this fantastic product of automotive clear coat in a rattle can! This stuff works great and I also used it on my front forks after I painted them. It makes applying clear coat to small paint jobs a breeze and far less hassle than mixing and shooting 2 part clear coat!
