I have been toying with the idea of adding some subtle LED underglow lighting to my bike. After reading a thread on FZ6-Forum.com about it, I decided to give it a shot. Here is the thread with lots of pictures and videos of various other FZ6's with different coloured LED underglow: http://www.fz6-forum.com/forum/fz6-mods/14599-anyone-have-led-underglow-their-bike-3.html

I chose to go with White LEDs as I want to achieve a nice, subtle glow to the bike and not look overly ghetto with crazy colours. I also felt that white would go nicely with the bike's silver frame.

This is what I ordered from OZNIUM:

x6 White LED Modules

x1 Remote/Strobe/Dimmer Kit

I went around the bike and found suitable places to mount the LED modules that would give good lighting as well as keeping the LED modules out of direct site. The key to good underglow is to hide your lighting modules and your wiring! I cleaned each mounting area with either rubbing alcohol or mineral spirits to ensure a clean and dirt/grease free mounting area for the supplied 3M adhesive to stick to.

I decided to mount the control unit under my gas tank as I will need the remaining room under my front farings for doing my HID Bi-Zenon headlight conversion and mounting the ballasts and control units. Under the tank also made a nice 'central' location to run all the LED wires to and also gives me access to both switched and constant 12VDC.

I routed all the LED wires up under the gas tank and then used individual terminal blocks for LED + and LED -. This makes for easy connections and it is now very easy to add more LEDs if desired.

All wired in an tidy. It pays to spend a bit of extra time and thought in your wire routing and keeping things clean and tidy, especially if you need to go back months later and troubleshoot.

Wire routing on the outside of the bike also needs to be clean and tidy. I used some braided nylon cable sleeving to keep things tidy.

The pictures don't really do the lighting justice! It's hard to get nice photos (or video for that matter) at night. The result is a nice, subtle glow that I was trying to achieve.

The remote unit works great and I am glad I purchased it. It works from over 30 METERS away! I wired the control unit to a constant 12VDC source so I could turn the LEDs on without having to turn on the bike. This way I can switch on the lights at anytime. The draw on the electrical system/battery from the LEDs is very nominal and you'd have to leave them on for a few hours to make a dent in the battery.

The remote unit has 3 feature modes:

Auto Dimmer : Automatically cycles through from dim to bright (like a heartbeat) at the touch of a button

Choose between 1 to 8 levels of brightness (and pause on that brightness level) - just keep clicking the button

Strobe / Flash mode
